DAS Heartland 2 Marble Collector Series Radioactive Rare Furnace Stone MINT Run Date: May 2014 This DAS Heartland 2 marble run had most of the marbles with a clear base glass. These transparent type marbles have some amazing internal swirls and a tremendous amount of large external chunky gold lutz. This particular marble has a very beautiful color combination of red and yellow glass. These two colors are universal complements...just look at all the McDonald's logo... :-) Oh yeah, don't forget this marble is UV reactive when exposed to a black light. This type of glass is called Fluorescent. FYI... Fluorescence is the emission of light by a substance that has absorbed light or other electromagnetic radiation . It is a form of luminescence . In most cases, the emitted light has a longer wavelength , and therefore a lower photon energy , than the absorbed radiation...in case you are curious... :-) The big collectable feature of this marble has got to be that obvious big white furnace stone embedded in the middle of the marble. There are no marks or dimples on the outside surface of the glass to give any hint of a defect or flaw. This reminds me of those ultra expensive German sulfide marbles that have little figurines of animals inside. The furnace stone is completed encapsulated so when you rotate the marble, it magnifies and distorts the shape of the stone just like those cool circus fun house mirrors. It is a really cool effect. These have become extremely collectable in the same way that coins that are struck off-center by the die. They usually get sorted out during the production process and they rarely see themselves into the hands of a private collector. When you find one, hang onto it. I try my best to take high resolution pictures with flash to show exactly what you are getting. I try to rotate the marble to give multiple views. I use a Canon Rebel DSLR camera with flash to show all the details of the marble that might not be visible in lower lighting conditions. This marble was manufactured using the 3/4" machine and the size of this particular marble is 0.728" as measured with electronic calipers. Note: this marble is slightly smaller than the average size marble rolling off the 3/4" machines. It is definitely bigger than a peewee, but I thought it was worth mentioning to avoid any possible disappointment. Thanks for reading the description to the end.
